P: What are the characteristics of the EMS?
R: Formatting the text: Text can be left-justified, right-justified or centred. There is a choice of three text sizes: large, normal or small. Text can be emphasised using bold, italics, underline and strike-through. Images: Three image format types are accepted: small (16 X 16 pixels), large (32 X 32) or variable size, defined by the user. The recommended maximum size is 96 X 64 pixels. A mobile can receive more than one image. Images are in black and white, there is no range of greys. Sounds: There are 10 different preset sounds (percussion, clapping, chords, etc.). The user can define his sound (not greater than 128 bytes). Melodies can also be included with the iMelody standard. With iMelody, the melody is represented by a text code, as already occurs in Ericsson telephones. You can find the iMelody format in the Ericsson document on the EMS, in the section on Melodies/Encoding Melody for sending over the air. Animations: Animations can be created by superimposing various images. Two sizes can be used: small (8 X 8 pixels) and large (16 X 16 pixels). The standard has some preset animations (sadness, flirtatiousness, joy, scepticism and regret). The user can also create his own animations and send them to other mobiles. Animations can not be downloaded.

P: What is EMS?
R: EMS, Enhanced Messaging Service. The Enhanced Messaging System is a development of the SMS format that enables users to add icons, smileys, melodies and sounds to a short message.

P: Can I send EMS to a telephone which is not compatible with the EMS system?
R: As the EMS is based on the SMS format, a user who receives an EMS message in a non-compatible telephone will only be able to read the text of the message.

P: I have got a new generation mobile telephone. Is it compatible with your services?
R: We currently give coverage to the majority of mobile telephones on the market, both the latest models and the first compatible models of all brands. If you want to check if your telephone is compatible, go to: http://www.telelogo.net. In the section on Logotypes you will find a “COMPATIBLE MODELS” button, click on it and search for your model. If it appears then it is compatible.

P: What is a Dynamic SMS?
R: A Dynamic SMS is a message created using the mobile telephone’s own symbols [;.-_/()\ ], which makes an animation effect in the telephone when the message is moved across the screen.

P: In which telephones can Dynamic SMSs be viewed?
R: Dynamic SMSs can only be viewed correctly in NOKIA models.
